2010-2014

Language Project Manager at one of the world’s leading translation agencies.

Managing multiple translation projects, including liaising between freelance linguists and clients, and ensuring deadlines and quality expectations were met.

 

2005- 2010

Freelance translator: I work in several fields and language combinations, including:

From Spanish into Arabic: Translations of advertising texts (industrial, tourist, transport area, etc.) for multinational corporations, medical texts, survey report on the Search Engine Market in Saudi Arabia, texts on fairs and exhibitions, instruction manuals, correspondence, brochures on commercial products, websites, legal, philosophical and political texts, official documents such as marriage, death and birth certificates, and general texts.

 

From English into Arabic: translations of philosophical, political and legal texts, advertising texts, texts on trade, agricultural and industrial goods, instruction manuals, military documents, marketing texts, and many jurisprudential articles that have been published on the Internet.

 

2005- 2010

Spanish-Arabic interpreter: working with several Spanish translation companies,

I conducted telephonic and face-to-face interpretations from Arabic into Spanish for hospitals, social centres, police, and businesspersons. Interpretations for private customers.

January 2001- 2003

On arriving in Spain to pursue my Ph.D. studies, I maintained various different jobs as a barman and a cashier. I also opened and ran my own bar.

 

2000-2001:

Arabic teacher for foreigners, teaching Modern Standard and Syrian Colloquial Arabic in both one-on-one group classes. Lessons were structured around a textbook and required thorough planning, coupled with flexibility in execution. (Damascus, Syria).

January 1997 – February 2000

Completed compulsory military service in the Syrian Army.
